FAUSTAS LATĖNAS

Bolero

“In fact, the theme of human existence is the only theme. It is eternal. How a person is able or unable to live in the existing conditions. What does he or she live for? Does he or she love? Or does not? Love relationships – very interesting. But in this situation, you are just a helper. It requires a good screenplay, a good stage director who thinks profoundly”, said Faustas Latėnas in one of his last interviews. The creative oeuvre of the gone yet not forgotten composer amounts to more than 200 works for Lithuanian and foreign theatres, documentaries, feature and TV films, about half a hundred works for orchestra, and numerous chamber opuses.

Faustas Latėnas’ Bolero is performed by the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra under the direction of maestro Sergej Krylov. Unfortunately, the composer did not hear this opus – his musical idea was embodied and orchestrated by Tomas Petrikis, the composer’s long-time companion, viola player of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.
