The Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society presents the world-famous American baritone Thomas Hampson. Hailed by the renowned Elbe Philharmonie as the owner of the most beautiful baritone in the world and by the Metropolitan Opera Guild as the “Met Mastersinger”, his career includes nearly 100 operatic roles and a discography of almost 200 albums, which have been nominated for or won prestigious awards such as the Grammy, the Edison and the Grand Prix du Disque.
After conquering the Lithuanian audience at the Vilnius Festival 2022, when he performed Mahler’s music with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, this time Hampson, together with the LNSO and Maestro Modestas Pitrėnas, presented a spectacular musical fiesta, as evidenced by the extraordinarily colourful programme, which ranged from excerpts from Mozart’s comic operas Così fan tutte (Women Are Like That) and Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), to the tragic and contemplative harmonies of Verdi’s Don Carlos, to Lehár’s witty melodies, and the twentieth-century souvenirs embodied in Porter’s light-hearted songs or Bernstein’s admiration for New York.
