ALEXANDER SCRIABIN – The Poem of Ecstasy

2018-05-12

The 77th season of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic is crowned with bell sounds, solos of French horns and trumper. They are from Scriabin’s The Poem of Ecstasy for large orchestra. Written between 1905 and 1908, it is a hymn to human willpower, intelligence and ecstasy, which results from the joy of creation process. Passion, lofty emotions and impetuous energy are the Spiritus Movens of this opus, dominated by two contrastive emotional states, which the composer named “tremendous subtleness” and “tremendous grandiosity”.
