The title of the work written in 2020 came from Boethius\u2019 Latin dictum \u201cNunc fluens facit tempus. Nunc stans facit aeternitatum\u201d, which translates into English as \u201cThe now that passes produces time, the now that remains produces eternity\u201d. This idea of possible different experience of the present \u2013 one passing and the other standing still \u2013 resonated greatly with the current period of the virus pandemic. \u201cSuddenly we all found ourselves in a time where there is only the present. The future is gone for a while, because thinking about it seems a bit absurd \u2013 after all, it may not come. The past has also rubbed off, turned into a dream from some time ago... We only have the present, which seems to have lost its flow, stopped and froze for a while\u201d, said the composer. Nunc fluens. Nunc stans for percussion and strings is a diptych, the two movements of which are performed without interruption. The first reflects the flowing time and the second the stagnant time.
