However, instrumental concertos represent yet another important part of his oeuvre. One of them is the Piano Concerto Resurrection. “It’s incredible music – I could talk about it for hours,” said pianist Mūza Rubackytė. The composer worked on this concerto in 2001–2002 and dedicated it to the events of September 11th, 2001. The premiere of the work took place in 2002. Five years later, the composer performed an essential editing of the work; the new version was performed on December 7th, 2007, and featured pianist Barry Douglas and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the composer himself. The work of unparalleled emotional gamut and range of states of anxiety consists of ten episodes performed attacca. “The title Resurrection should be understood in a broader, symbolic and universal context. Itarises from the chorale that crowns the work and expresses the victory of life over death. I composed the chorale, a symbol of comfort and faith, immediately after the tragedy in New York. It was a purely human gesture and a sign of protest against cruelty.”The Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson, share the stage with pianist Mūza Rubackytė, performing a technically complex piano part."}
